New Hampshire!

Jonah and I took our first cross country trip without Dad a couple of weeks ago...When I landed I called Dave and told him I didn't know why I ever doubted that he would be great on the flights because indeed he was. He was quite charming (and quite squirmy!) to the folks all around us and we made it no problem. Dave had a very busy 10 days while we were gone with a couple of big events for work and a trip to Salt Lake City for a week for the Outdoor Retailer Trade Show.

We re-united on Saturday (after a longer, and a bit more squirmy flight) back across the country. It had been since Jonah was 6 weeks old since we had visited my parents, brother and sister in law, Gramma and friends...what a difference a few months makes in baby world...We had a few 'firsts' even on the trip- Jonah pulled himself up to standing without assistance and started to gobble up 'solid' food! From sweet potatoes to bananas to oatmeal to carrots and apple pear sauces... he is proving to be a good little eater! We had a wonderful time hanging with friends and family and celebrated my mom's 60th birthday *(incidentally the same day as Jonah's 7 month birthday!) with a great backyard party. The clouds parted for an amazing sunset with good food and people...cant ask for much more! We also go to visit Jonah's Great Gramma who is now 94~ what a treat to see her her and Jonah together- so many generations!

Uncle Travis and I got to go rock climbing one day while Nanna babysat nearby. It felt really good to be climbing!!!! We also went for a good hike together as a family up Bald Knob which is a nearby mountain that has great views of the lake and surrounding area (even to the Castle in the Clouds where we were married). Trav and I got in a couple good runs too. So nice to be home for a little while! Jonah is so much more interactive now- giggling lots at Denali (my parents black lab) playing peek-a-boo games with Grandpa and a hat, and scooting all over the place...nothing is safe anymore!

Back to work this week but already scheming up more ways to spend more time with the family :)...next time all three of us can go!

Baby's First Summit

We took a break from the flooring project today since the weather was to nice to pass up and took the littleman on his first summit to mt. ellinor which is about an hour and half from home. It is about 4.5 miles round trip so we figured a good starting point for taking him out longer a little later on. He did really well- fussing a couple of times only to fall asleep. Dave carried him all the way up and all the way down. He wasnt even the only baby there! We saw 2 other babies and 3 baby mountain goats as well as lots of adults. The view from the top wasnt half bad and we both agreed it was really nice to be back in the mountains! These other few photos are from when we returned home and played in the pool and from our outdoor dinner table!

sum sum summertime...

The last few weeks seem like they have been flying by...we have been blessed with some great weather and that has helped us begin work on one of our first house projects...installing bamboo flooring...these are a couple of pictures of the carpet coming out and the first few feet installed. Dave and a couple of friends have been working a lot on it and we hope to finish it up this weekend.

We began last weekend and while Dave and our friend Gerry got to work, his wife Cammy and their two kids plus Jonah and I visited the farmers market and the childrens museum in Olympia which was great. Who knew how cool a mirror at baby level could be? We'll definitely be back, there are some really great toys and exhibits there.

Also a few pics of Jonah from this afternoon. This afternoon he and kitty had some quality playtime with his toys on a blanket in the backyard under out dogwood tree while I caught up on some work. He is getting a little more independent now, playing with a basket of toys sometimes for a half hour or more at a time which is great and he loves sitting up by himself.

Then he and a new buddy Riley who is 10.5 months old and is babysat a couple of houses away at his grandparents shared a little pool time- a nice way to spend the end of a summer day!
